For real, y’all. Put rest on your schedule. It’s been something that I have been more intentional about doing. I’ve even been creative in my rest. It’s not always about sleep, sometimes it’s about just detaching, sitting, breathing, closing my eyes, using my essential oils.
Definition of rest: Rest is about having downtime; it’s about allowing yourself time to relax, reset and recover, whether that’s from your work or home life, or both. It’s about taking care of you and being able to quiet yourself.
Benefits of rest:
👍🏽Get sick less often. 👍🏽Lower your risk for serious health problems, like diabetes and heart disease. 👍🏽Reduce stress. 👍🏽 Improve your mood. 👍🏽Think more clearly and do better in school and at work. 👍🏽Get along better with people.
Hello fellow teachers and friends! I began teaching in 2001. It is amazing to think that! I can't believe that I have taught so many grade levels and facilitated learning for teachers for so many years! My teaching began in South Carolina, then Virginia and the now in Georgia. My 21 years in teaching and education have taught me a lot about relationship building, authentic teaching and learning, life long learning and the importance of caring for self. I truly feel that those years upped my level of teaching in ways that I never could have imagined! My love is literacy and infusing diverse books in all we do. I am back in the classroom and I am also an Instructional Coach! I was an Instructional Coach in schools for 5 years and 2 years+ now as a consultant. I’ve written two books too! (If you would love to support there is a link in my blog) This blog is my journey. Hopefully you will stick with me!
