When I get books in the mail, I read them to my kiddos to see what they get from the book and if they love it. This book, Seraphina Does Everything, written by Melissa Gratias, was a book that my youngest truly enjoyed. This book is about a little girl who doesn’t want to miss out on anything so she stacks her plate full of every activity she can and begins to burn out. She realizes that is she unhappy. She then talks to her father who helps her figure out what should be on her plate and what she needs to let go of. My youngest said that she’s glad she does ballet and that’s all she wants to do right now. This is a great book to help kiddos figure out that life isn’t just about doing, sometimes it about cherishing the quiet moments we have. Hello fellow teachers and friends! I began teaching in 2001. It is amazing to think that! I can't believe that I have taught so many grade levels and facilitated learning for teachers for so many years! My teaching began in South Carolina, then Virginia and the now in Georgia. My 21 years in teaching and education have taught me a lot about relationship building, authentic teaching and learning, life long learning and the importance of caring for self. I truly feel that those years upped my level of teaching in ways that I never could have imagined! My love is literacy and infusing diverse books in all we do. I am back in the classroom and I am also an Instructional Coach! I was an Instructional Coach in schools for 5 years and 2 years+ now as a consultant. I’ve written two books too! (If you would love to support there is a link in my blog) This blog is my journey. Hopefully you will stick with me!
