Rooted in Presence

Happy Friday Y’all!

So many times throughout my week I whispered to myself to slow down, breathe, take your time. I’m 95% sure I suffer from attention deficit as an adult. That shows up for me when I rush or when my mind wanders A-LOT. I’m also an Enneagram 7. So often, I’m ready to get on to the next exciting thing. Especially when the thing I’m doing to me isn’t as exciting. 😆 All of this in my brain can make me lose sight of the power of PRESENCE.

But this week, it was waaay different. I kept telling myself to slow down. Take a deep breath. Pause. Pray. Set an intention or reset an intention. My presence helped me to be keenly aware of my students. It allowed me to see when we all needed a brain break—a stretch, 5 deep breaths, some seated sun salutations. They loved it and I did too. It also helped me as a mom and wife as well. To take in each moment. Living life as a gift.

Presence is powerful. I plan to be intentional about it even more.

Rooted in Purpose

Purpose.

In 2020, my principal at the time had us write down a word that would ground us throughout the year. My word was PURPOSE. That word has gotten me through many years after—and 2020 was a challenging year for us all with COVID running rampant.

Purpose drives us. Purpose helps us to stay rooted and intentional as we continue to walk the walk of life. It gives clarity, presence, and can give peace. Staying rooted in purpose can remind you of what matters most. It can help you to hone in on the values drive you. Purpose can ignite your passion and give you meaning.

I’m always reminded to ground in PURPOSE and to stay ROOTED.

It’s the 7th month of the year. We have hit the 1/2 way point before 2025.

What is a word you want to lean into for the rest of 2024?

Seasons: Time to Get Rooted

Over the years, May has been a month for me of great sadness and great joy. I like to say with the ending of seasons in life comes the beauty of the next season. When winter comes to an end —the blooming of spring awaits. When spring comes to an end —the sun rises even higher leaving us with longer days and even greener grasses. When summer ends —we get the beautiful colors of autumn leaves. When autumn’s leaves have fallen—we receive longer days and sometimes beautiful winter white snow.

There are seasons even in life and with those seasons—there are shifts. I feel a shift coming. A beautiful shift that calls me to lean into my word for 2024. That word is ROOTED 🌳.

You see, when you get to the roots of a plant 🌱 you often have to tend to them. You may have to change the soil, take time to water it and give it what it needs to get back to that healthy, thriving beautiful plant that it once was. That means going back to the roots of it all—slowing down and getting to a grounded place. A shift is coming. I can feel it.
