Your Happy Heart

Your Happy Heart is a story written by Annie Dean and illustrated by Susan Keeter. This book is about 5th grader, Javon, who is excited to be chosen as a Book Buddy to 1st grader, Richard. Javon, being a good mentor, helps Richard through the problems he is having in school and doesn’t give up on him. He connects with Richard and eventually they build a friendship. This book would be an awesome book to have classroom discussions with. It is also a great book for school counselors to use with lessons as well. It’s well organized. Hello fellow teachers and friends! I began teaching in 2001. It is amazing to think that! I can't believe that I have taught so many grade levels and facilitated learning for teachers for so many years! My teaching began in South Carolina, then Virginia and the now in Georgia. My 21 years in teaching and education have taught me a lot about relationship building, authentic teaching and learning, life long learning and the importance of caring for self. I truly feel that those years upped my level of teaching in ways that I never could have imagined! My love is literacy and infusing diverse books in all we do.
